Not often in life do you discover a Black Diamond, but if one is discovered, you realize it is rare, genuine and exotic, which exemplifies our business, Black Diamond Exclusive. At Black Diamond Exclusive, we’re always striving to serve and satisfy each client with EXCELLENCE.
Now, this is our story of discovering our Black Diamond. Our story begins with me, Lawrance Johnson, a.k.a., “LJ of the Eastbay”. I was born in Berkeley, California, and raised in the beautiful city of Oakland. Growing up I always knew I was going to college, even though I didn’t know how or who would pay for it. Growing up in the streets of Oakland taught me a lot about life, as well as developing outstanding athletics skills. Little did I know, those athletics skills and my love for education would catapult me into Texas Christian University on a football scholarship. It was a dream come true playing for TCU, in addition to learning the language of accounting. Although I did not go on to play professional football, I did get a degree in accounting and became the first football player since 1873 to graduate from TCU’s Accounting Department. After college, I returned to California and worked as an Accountant for 19 years. I later earned an MBA in Finance from Golden Gate University and have worked for the past 21 years as a Financial Advisor.
My beautiful wife, Gloria and I have been married for thirty-six years. We have three wonderful children – Christopher, Lauran and Larcell, and an amazing daughter-in-law Alicia, who is the mother of our outstanding granddaughter Santana.
However, like father-like daughter, my daughter and business partner Lauran, is much like me! Like me, she is an athlete, a thoughtful thinker, an entrepreneur and most of all a leader. So, allow me introduce my daughter Lauran.
Hey everybody, “It’s Your Girl LJ” a.k.a., Lauran Johnson. Now, the second part of our journey continues with me. I was born in Vallejo, California. Growing up in Vallejo, athletics came natural for me. Just like my father, I knew that education and athletics would have an impact on my journey in life. I was a three-sport athlete while attending Vallejo High School. In my senior year I was awarded the league’s MVP for basketball and I broke the school’s 16-year record in the triple-jump. I attended Junior College after high school and I eventually earned a scholarship to Washington State in track-and-field, and later transferred to Boise State where I finished my track-and-field career and earned a degree in Communication. Working with my dad has been an amazing and empowering experience. Given the uniqueness of our shared backgrounds and experiences, we’ve found significant value in working together. I love working with my dad! He brings years of wisdom and knowledge and I bring fresh innovative ideas and an understanding of today’s social media.
